6 Reasons It’s Better To Live Off The Grid

off the grid

Everyday, some of us dream of leaving it all behind. Imagine a life that doesn’t consist of the tedious cycle of work, home, work, home, rinse and repeat. You can have a life like that, if you live off the grid. The more that I read about it, the more tempted I am to quit my job and go do it. So why don’t more people do it? Some are scared, others think that it will be too much work. Of course, such a lifestyle takes a lot of work, but everything shouldn’t come to you easily.

More Eco Friendly

Living off of the grid is a much more eco-friendly and sustainable way of living than living in a city or town. Yes, you still have to use natural resources in order to live, but the point is that you’re using a lot less of them. Imagine how many natural resources we could save if everyone decided to leave the cities and go live off the grid.

More Freedom

Modern living feels like freedom to some people, but it’s really not. People are chained to their desks at their office jobs, as life slowly passes them by. You weren’t born just to pay bills and die. By living off the grid, you can free yourself from the burden of a life in debt. This is of course if you can make it work. Getting started is an investment of both money and time; many people don’t make it.

Better Survival Skills

One of the most beneficial things about living off the grid is that you learn valuable survival skills. which come in handy in the case of a natural disaster, or nuclear armageddon; you might think I’m joking, about nuclear armageddon, but you have to remember that Donald Trump has a fifty fifty shot at becoming the president. Much of the population lacks basic survival skills, you would have an edge in the case of a zombie apocalypse.

Returning To Your Roots

Living off the grid means that you’re living off of the land, just the way that nature intended. You’ll feel a real connection to the earth, as well as a real sense of accomplishment. It’s a much more selfless way of living.

Living With Nature Rather Than Destroying It

Humans and our modern way of living are killing nature faster than she can regenerate. The Great Barrier Reef is gone; bees are endangered. The way that modern humans live is just not sustainable any longer. It may be too late to prevent climate change, but we can still try to put it off for as long as possible.

Better Quality Of Life

Once you can actually get a comfortable living situation going, living off the grid is much more stress free way of living. Living a life as stress free and peaceful as possible has got to do wonders for your overall quality of life. Some speculate that people who live off the grid live longer than others, though this would be a very difficult thing to actually track.
