Van’s Warped Tour

This year Warped Tour turns finally turns twenty one. Since 1995, Warped Tour has been home to some classic punk rock shows. Warped Tour is also one of the few festivals this summer that will be touring across the continent, hitting many major cities along the way. This year’s lineup promises performances by Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, and Tsunami Bomb, among others. Warped Tour kicks off June 24 and goes through August 13, so get your tickets now!

Another classic music festival from the nineties, this year’s Lollapalooza promises to be a memorable one. Taking place from July 28-31 in Chicago, this year’s lineup will include performances by Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and LCD Soundsystem. Come hang out and get your nineties alternative rock fix.

The annual gathering of hippies, ravers and other freethinkers, will be taking place in it’s usual spot at Black Rock City, deep in the desert of Nevada August 28-Sept 5 . Burning Man is worth checking out at least once in your lifetime, but people tend to return year after year for a new and different experience. The unique art installations alone make the experience worth it. This year’s art workshop will be DaVinci themed. Tickets are on sale now and going fast.
Newport Folk Festival

Taking place on the beautiful shore of Newport, Rhode Island, this celebration of American folk music is a must for any fan of the genre. The festival will take place July 22-24 and feature music by folk musicians, Father John Misty and Ray Lamontagne. Go for the music and stay for the lobster rolls!
Made In America

Founded by rapper Jay Z five years ago, Made In America aka MIA is an annual festival featuring popular hip hop artists and EDM. MIA will be at the end of summer, September 3 and 4 in Philadelphia, PA. This year’s lineup will feature performances by Rhianna, Two Chainz, Lil Wayne, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Coldplay. Tickets are available now.

Chicago’s other big summer festival will be September 16-18, and will feature performances by Bad Religion, Jimmy Eat World, the Hives, and many, many more. Riot Fest Denver will take place a couple weeks earlier, on September 2-4 with a definitive lineup of nineties rock including, Ween, Morrissey, the Deftones, and Sleater Kinney. This year’s Riot Fest promises to be a special one because the founding members of original horror punk band The Misfits will also be reuniting for a performance in both Chicago and Denver.
Austin City Limits

This year, Austin City Limits will be in it’s usual location in Austin, Texas but will be taking place later in the year on September 30-October 2 and October 7-9. By this time music festival season is pretty much over, but with performances by Die Antwoord, Band of Horses, Cage the Elephant and even Willie Nelson!

If it were up to me I would go to all of these, but I don’t have unlimited amounts of money. Try to make it to at least one of these awesome festivals and you’ll have a memorable summer indeed.
